Summary: Total Gym®, formerly efi Sports Medicine®, today announced the launch of its new Total Gym bodyweight trainer product line with an improved look and performance to advance commercial fitness offerings and in-home training.

Description: SAN DIEGO—Feb. 1, 2011—From the company that introduced the first functional training and conditioning machine for fitness, athletic conditioning and rehabilitation comes a revolution in bodyweight resistance training. Total Gym®, formerly efi Sports Medicine®, today announced the launch of its new Total Gym bodyweight trainer product line with an improved look and performance to advance commercial fitness offerings and in-home training. The newly-enhanced equipment features more levels of incline, all aluminum extruded rails, new release lever for effortless incline changes, assisted folding and unfolding capabilities, an innovative adjustable glideboard and more. The company will debut its new Total Gym bodyweight trainer equipment at the IHRSA 30th Anniversary International Convention & Trade Show in San Francisco on March 16-19.

The New Look of Total Gym

Total Gym’s flagship bodyweight trainer is used in 14,000 physical therapy clinics, athletic training facilities, hospitals, universities, professional sports teams and health clubs as well as in four million homes worldwide. Building on 37 years of innovation, the San Diego-based company will unveil three new Total Gym models—Total Gym Sport™, Total Gym GTS® and Total Gym PowerTower®—designed to meet the increasing demands of customers and users.

Total Gym Sport
The all new Sport model is recommended for small footprint commercial facilities and for use in the home. It features:

    * 20 calibrated levels of resistance with loads from 1% to 57% of bodyweight.
    * All aluminum extruded rails for smooth, quiet gliding and expansive rolling range.
    * Gas strut assisted, effortless folding and unfolding capabilities.
    * Center pulley attachment points on the tower with dual functionality—to double cable resistance and offer multiple leg-pulley positions for maximum flexibility.
    * Automatic rail locks for stability while performing plyometric exercises.
    * Release lever for easy level changes.
    * Large squat stand with three height settings.
    * Large glideboard with comfort cushioning.
    * Sleek, molded rubber cable pulley handles.
    * Other newly-designed accessories sold separately.


Total Gym GTS
The award-winning Total Gym GTS is utilized with the GRAVITYSystem®, a staple personal training, group fitness and Pilates program, available in 1,500 commercial facilities with 5,000 GRAVITY instructors worldwide. The latest GTS model now features:

    * 22 calibrated levels of resistance with loads from 1% to 62% of bodyweight.
    * All new aluminum extruded rails for smoother, quieter gliding and increased rolling range.
    * Larger glideboard with enhanced dense foam cushioning.
    * Simplified gas strut assisted folding and unfolding capabilities.
    * Release lever for easy level changes; now users can lift the rails from any convenient hand position.
    * All new glideboard adjusts parallel to the floor and allows for improved spinal alignment; ideal for working with special populations.
    * Larger squat stand with three height settings.
    * Sleek, molded rubber cable pulley handles.
    * New rubber-dipped LAT bar grips for comfort.
    * User-friendly pulley locator clamp for adjusting the line of pull.
    * New center pulley attachment points on the tower with dual functionality—to double cable resistance and offer multiple leg-pulley positions for maximum flexibility.
    * Automatic rail locks for improved stability while performing plyometric exercises.

Total Gym PowerTower
The motorized Total Gym PowerTower allows for load changes at the touch of a button for sports-specific conditioning, performance training and rehabilitation. The redesigned PowerTower now includes:

    * 26 calibrated levels of resistance with loads from 1% to 72% of bodyweight.
    * All new adjustable glideboard, with extra length and cushioning, provides optimal spine positioning for any client.
    * All aluminum extruded rails for smoother, quieter gliding and increased rolling range.
    * Convenient motorized level adjustments during an exercise in progress—controlled from the tower or by the user with remote-control cable pulley handles.
    * Simplified gas strut assisted folding and unfolding capabilities.
    * Larger squat stand with three height settings.
    * Additional set of molded rubber cable pulley handles.
    * New rubber-dipped LAT bar grips for comfort.
    * User-friendly pulley locator clamp for adjusting the line of pull.
    * New center pulley attachment points on the tower with dual functionality—to double cable resistance and offer multiple leg-pulley attachment positions
