efi Sports Medicine Unveils New PlyoRebounder at IHRSA 2010 Trade Show

Summary: The new dual-ringed PlyoRebounder is a multi-faceted and versatile training apparatus for developing slow or quick response plyometrics, proprioception and upper and lower body agility training.

Description: SAN DIEGO—March 19, 2010—efi Sports Medicine®, the creator of Total Gym® and The GRAVITYSystem® health club fitness program, has recently launched a new version of its popular PlyoRebounder® now available for sale to health clubs, rehabilitation clinics and wellness facilities. efi unveiled the newly redesigned double-ring PlyoRebounder at the International Health, Racquet & Sportsclub Association’s 29th annual international convention and trade show held on March 10-13 in San Diego, CA.

The PlyoRebounder is a multi-faceted and versatile training apparatus for slow or quick response plyometrics, developing proprioception, and upper and lower body agility training. Able to adjust to 11 positions (from flat to 50 degrees tilt), PlyoRebounder’s mini-trampoline surface offers true “rebounding,” requiring users to work against gravity to enhance explosive power, core stability and coordination.

The PlyoRebounder now features a double ring to protect the springs from stretching when heavier loads, such as medicine balls weighing up to 20 pounds, are applied to the trampoline surface. The PlyoRebounder is easily stabilized with Olympic weights for heavy plyo-training.

“Studies have shown that plyometric rebounding can be an effective training mechanism to improve reaction time, balance and agility, in addition to strengthening the heart and the musculoskeletal systems,” said Tom Campanaro, CEO of efi Sports Medicine. “We are proud to unveil an improved PlyoRebounder that can be utilized with clients of any age and fitness level for rehabilitation and high performance training.”

Fitness and rehab professionals can have clients perform upper body agility exercises on the PlyoRebounder using dry-filled medicine balls, included with the PlyoRebounder Package. When thrown against the rebounding surface (acceleration), the dry-filled ball returns perpendicular to the rebounding surface, requiring the user to catch the ball and follow through with corresponding deceleration. PlyoRebounder can accommodate users of any height, enabling them to exercise from seated, kneeling and standing positions. The PlyoRebounder can also be used as a low-compression jogger for cardiovascular work and is able to accommodate users weighing up to 220 pounds.

The PlyoRebounder is recommended for use with efi Sports Medicine’s renowned GRAVITY® Program, now offered in health clubs spanning 200 U.S. cities and more than 20 countries worldwide.

GRAVITY offers a one-stop shop for small group and personal training as well as Pilates and post-rehab workouts—all conducted on the GTS® or Power Tower, commercial versions of efi Sports Medicine’s iconic Total Gym® bodyweight training apparatus. The Total Gym engages all major muscle groups on an inclined free-rolling glideboard connected to a dynamic pulley cable system, and facilitates more than 250 functional exercises in multiple planes. Able to adjust to different levels of resistance from 3 to 72 percent of bodyweight, Total Gym GRAVITYTraining is ideal for novice exercisers and challenging enough for those looking to strengthen and sculpt their body.
