Your therapist may prescribe some very specific exercises on Total Gym soon after surgery, or even in advance of surgery. Total Gym's progressive levels of calibrated resistance allow for incremental progression as you do these exercises. This means you can progress steadily through your therapist prescribed protocols.
Many insurers and health maintenance organizations have strict limits on the number of physical therapy clinic visits your coverage provides. Performing clinic-prescribed exercises at home on Total Gym before surgery, during rehab and post-rehab can cause several beneficial outcomes:
- Your confidence increases
- You learn your unique exercise program faster and more accurately
- You enjoy quicker and more satisfying results
- You decrease your potential for re-injury
- Post-rehab, you can continue to strengthen problem areas addressed during therapy.
- You enjoy improved physical fitness
Total Gym enables patients to increase strength, improve flexibility in advance of surgery, during rehabilitation and after rehab is complete. It is the one (and often, the only) training device you can use as soon as your physician releases you for any weight-bearing activity. When therapists assign early functional rehab protocols, patients often see and feel results very quickly. This can be extremely encouraging and can boost the progress of your recovery.
